Illinois has historically been a hub of major manufacturing activity bringing some of the most cutting-edge products into the global marketplace. While this remains the case today, many Illinois manufacturers are now having a hard time finding a skilled, experienced workforce to fill their existing, open positions in advanced manufacturing. INAM was There to Help!
INAM (Illinois Network for Advanced Manufacturing) was a network of 21 community colleges across the state of Illinois. INAM was tasked, through a multi-million dollar grant from the Department of Labor, to train and certify students for entry into the rewarding field of advanced manufacturing. The funding assisted community colleges throughout Illinois to upgrade their advanced manufacturing facilities with the latest equipment, expand welding and mechatronics labs, and update curricula to reflect the changing face of manufacturing.
Through the efforts of INAM and its network of educational leaders, faculty, professional manufacturers, and government officials, students entered their careers in advanced manufacturing with all the tools in place for their success. This not only helped the students, but also the manufacturers in need of a quality workforce, the communities in which they operated, and the economic growth of the state of Illinois.
