The new “Make it in Manufacturing” Program was launched as a joint effort between Oakton Community College and the Technology and Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA). This is an exciting new program that will offer those trained throughTMA’s apprenticeship programs the opportunity to apply their experience towards earning college credits at Oakton. Congressman Brad Schneider, who was at the signing ceremony for the program, stated that the joint program will help to develop the skilled workforce needed to fill the country’s growing skills gap in manufacturing (i.e. increasing amount of openings, not enough skilled workers).
