Last week the Daily Herald Business Ledger Newsmakers’ Forum on Manufacturing and International Business took place in Oak Brook, IL. The event brought key local players in manufacturing to discuss the state of the industry. Generally, there was agreement that manufacturing in Illinois is on the upswing, with a great diversity of products being produced. This is occurring with more streamlined operations, with less governmental help in terms of tax incentives, and with an ever-present skills gap between the need for trained professionals and a lack of a prepared workforce to take positions as they open.
