This article outlines some important steps that will be necessary to rebuild our currently shrinking middle class. Some of the problems facing industries such as manufacturing are: competition from other countries, a skills gap between need and talent, and a younger workforce reluctant to enter the field. The article states that we must “out-skill” the competition, bring together education and business to make sure that training matches needs, and promote the technology sector as one with great opportunity for a relatively minimal investment. The hub where all this change can happen is the Community College, which can serve to “enable the American Workforce.”
