It is a small increase, and not without some issues, but it is an increase nonetheless. Between Nov of 2013 and Nov of 2014, Illinois has added 2,397 jobs, an increase of a half percent. This is behind the national average of 1.4%. Illinois is home to 18,071 manufacturers employing 810,503. We are still losing some jobs to neighboring states, but that seems to be slowing. The rise shown over the last year is due, in part, to the state’s solid infrastructure and an increasingly educated workforce. Chicago continues to become a hub for high tech manufacturing and start up enterprises.
