The Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) has partnered with the Chicagoland Workforce Funder Alliance to create the Genesis Movement. The Genesis Movement is an initiative designed to strengthen the manufacturing sector and its workforce. It will do this through tools and strategies that will increase the competitiveness of Chicago-area manufacturers and develop a skilled, adaptable workforce. IMEC President, David Boulay, states that the movement will meet manufacturing needs by “focusing on the people, process and products needed for local manufacturers to move forward and better compete globally.” The program is an interactive, 24-month process where IMEC will help manufacturers to create a structured approach to their business by looking at performance and practices of the organization, examining the long-term strategy, and providing a 90 day action plan. The Genesis Movement already has plans to work with over 80 manufacturing companies around Chicagoland.
