Closing the Manufacturing Skills Gap in the Great Lakes Region

On June 17th, 250 leaders from manufacturing, logistics, education, and government gathered for an Executive Briefing at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, IN. The event was a collaboration between Ivy Tech, SME, the Great Lakes Manufacturing Council, NIMS, and MSSC. The purpose was to discuss the state of manufacturing in the Great Lakes region. Specific topics included the skills gap, manufacturing education, certifications and credentials, veterans in the workforce, and more. Breakout sessions addressed model programs in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and other Great Lakes states.
