The Career Advisory Board, from DeVry University, recently released a new study about the traits of the most successful job seekers. The 2015 Successful Job Seekers report surveyed 589 professionals who acquired a new job in the last year. Some key traits were shared by successful candidates: they were selective on the positions, applying to only those with a high level of matching qualifications; they were focused on specific companies; they customized resumes for specific jobs; they showcased job-specific and interpersonal skills during interviews; they researched the companies; and they sent timely “thank you” emails and followups.
