US manufacturing continues to grow and there is an urgent need to fill a large number of open positions. In addition, a gender gap exists where women remain a relatively under-utilized resource within the industry. A recent study conducted by APICS Supply Chain Council, Deloitte, and the Manufacturing Institute provides some insight on women in manufacturing. The report addresses some positive trends in recruiting women into manufacturing, but a need for a greater number applying for leadership roles. It also indicates the need to promote continued education and a need for betterĀ retention of valuable talent.
