Kankakee Community College (KCC) recently received $25,000 in scholarship funds to be used towards the study of advanced manufacturing. The fund was presented by the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) Education Foundation. Kankakee is one of six community colleges throughout the state that will receive the fund this summer. KCC President Dr. John Avendano said, “several of our local manufacturers had vacancies for welders, millwrights and fabricators and they turned to the college to help fill the positions. Earning this award means the college performed at a high level and was actively engaged in fostering greater educational opportunities within the manufacturing field. We are grateful to the IMA for their generous gift.”
