Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently visited Harper College. The visit highlighted Harper’s Promise Scholarship Program which offers free tuition to district students who meet performance, attendance, and service requirements while in high school. Harper’s program mirrors federal initiatives that will make community college more accessible nationwide. Programs such as these will offer opportunity to those who might not otherwise be able to afford a college education and will help meet the growing demand for skilled workers in specialized areas.
