Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) recently signed an agreement with Northern Illinois University (NIU) to facilitate student transfers for some technical programs. The agreement will make it easier for IVCC manufacturing and technology students to continue on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree at NIU’s Applied Manufacturing Technology program (in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology). Applicable IVCC programs include automotive technology, computer aided engineering and design, electronics, manufacturing technology, welding construction, and welding production. Students earning an Associate of Applied Science degree from these fields can earn their BS degrees online from NIU. NIU President Doug Baker said, “this agreement breaks down barriers and provides a seamless process that allows students to attain a degree that will position them for career advancement throughout their lifetimes.”
