Robotics Training at College of DuPage
PLEASE NOTE: The INAM Consortium was funded by a $12.9 million grant from the Department of Labor and tasked with delivering certificate programs in Advanced Manufacturing that can be completed in one year or less and prepare participants for employment in high-wage, high-skill occupations. Mechatronics (also generally known as Robotics) is an exciting new multi-disciplinary field that utilizes a combination of mechanical, electrical and computer technologies for the development of electro-mechanical products and systems. A Mechatronics/Robotics program prepares students for industrial automation in applications (engineering) positions, as well as service (maintenance) type positions.
Mechatronic/Robotic Technicians work with a large range of equipment and a variety of technology platforms, including: robotics, machine visioning systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensing and control systems, computer machine controls, and other automation and computer-controlled equipment. In some cases, many of these platforms might be combined within a single manufacturing production project.
Graduates of this dynamic field were trained to problem solve, program, operate and maintain electromechanical and automated equipment. Troubleshooting hardware and software systems of an automated system, along with concepts of how they are integrated, were also important parts of the training.
