This October, Southwestern Illinois College will offer introductory welding classes in three weekend sessions. The program is called Welding for the Average Joe, and it is designed for those interested in welding, but not necessarily in a career-track certification. The school will follow up with a more advanced class in November. The advanced class, Welding the Next Step – Beyond Average, will be for those wanting to learn advanced techniques, including machine setup, metallurgy, oxy-fuel equipment, and TIG welding.
