Manufacturing day at Harper College was a great success! We had students from several high school districts pass through our Manufacturing lab and view demonstrations of CNC machining, welding, a 3-D printer at work, and a Fanuc robot. We even had one visiting student perform a weld on our simulator! Sprinkled in-between these were short presentations on an apprenticeship program by a local business and Supply Chain opportunities in the industry by our SCM Program Coordinator.

Following lunch, students boarded buses for various plant tours. Then more school buses returned with students who had just completed plant tours earlier that day and our demonstrations and presentations were repeated until late in the day. Congratulations to all the faculty and staff who contributed to a successful Manufacturing Day! In the afternoon I went to OSG USA to pick up a $20,000 donation of tools for our Precision Machining program. What a great way for a business to support our efforts of instructing students with quality machines and materials. Thank you OSG!
