Gabby T. asks…

Q: Do employers reimburse employees for tuition costs?

A: Sometimes. A lot of manufacturers have a reimbursement policy after an employee reaches a time milestone, like 90 or 180 days of employment, when the employer believes you are invested in his company and he’ll invest in you. Some companies will reimburse you for any course you may take, some for only courses pertinent to your employment skills.
Starbucks, for example, has a limited tuition reimbursement plan and McDonalds offers $700 to $1050 a year, depending on the position. But manufacturers generally have a more robust tuition reimbursement plan. Make sure you ask your employer about this important benefit, or the HR person who may be interviewing you. Finishing your degree at the expense of your employer would be really sweet!
