Q. Are any small, targeted scholarships available?

A. They sure are! I went to our Community College’s Education Foundation site and found 50 scholarships dedicated to students in different programs or other selection criteria. I actually printed 6 scholarship postings and pinned them to my class’ bulletin board to raise awareness of their existence. I think several students may be applying for them. They are so easy to apply for that it’s a shame more students aren’t taking advantage of them. These Manufacturing Program scholarships had the following requirements for the applicant:

· Exhibit financial need, be enrolled in the Mechatronics program, and have at least a 2.5 GPA.
· Have graduated from High School District 211.
· Be enrolled at Harper College.
· Write a paragraph describing future goals.

So take advantage of these scholarship opportunities and apply!
