There has been an increase in the need for skilled manufacturing jobs in Grundy County, in large part due to an increase in automotive industry orders. Metalstamp, Inc., a manufacturer of metal parts for automotive components, medical devices, and electronics, recently opened a new 50,000 square foot facility in the area to address growing customer demand. Lee Hutchinson, owner of Metalstamp, stated that while on the rise, one issue that remains is lack of students preparing to enter the industry. One of the company’s goals will be to reach out to area students to increase their interest in manufacturing through tours, education, and more.
