Peoria area students recently got an excellent opportunity to attend a local annual manufacturing expo. The event took place at the Woodruff Career and Technical Center where area manufacturers provided demonstrations, exhibits, and networking opportunities. Over 800 students from 30 local high schools had a rare chance to get their hands on robots, 3D printers, and welding equipment. The aim was to showcase some of the great opportunities for careers working with state-of-the-art technology in advanced manufacturing. Exhibitors wanted students to see that manufacturing has changed greatly over the years, and offers a chance for a rewarding career, with plenty of jobs opening as baby boomers continue to retire.
