The metal industry is experiencing some very familiar issues: lack of a skilled workforce and retiring employees, particularly at the leadership level. Metals Service Center Institute, an industry trade association in Rolling Meadows, IL, has created an executive education program to develop leaders that will be needed to fill roles in the metal industry. Their Strategic Metals Management program, developed in partnership with Washington University’s Olin School of Business, is 18 month training program that provides the knowledge needed for future leaders. It has already had 260 graduates, many of whom have moved into senior roles.
