Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker is in Chicago Monday, December 1, to discuss the future of manufacturing. A major part of the discussion will be the new Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) being built on Goose Island. The institute will become a key resource for the development of new ideas and the bringing of those ideas into production. The Chicago location will be the first of 45 similar national facilities set to open over the next 10 years. Pritzker will present at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. Next she will participate in a DMDII roundtable with key leaders and educators on the future of manufacturing and the role of the institute. The evening will involve a keynote speech at the Consular Corps Ball which will gather foreign consulates to recognize the city’s businesses.
